"I'm a Rockstar" – A Graphic Novel Short Film Adaptation
By Miles McAlister
I'm thrilled to share my latest passion project—a graphic novel short film adaptation of "I'm a Rockstar"! This high-energy, visually explosive story blends the power of music with the immersive storytelling of comics and film.
The Concept
"I'm a Rockstar" follows a struggling musician on the brink of fame—or self-destruction. The graphic novel format allows for surreal, dynamic artwork that mirrors the chaotic highs and lows of rockstar life. Now, I'm bringing it to life as a short film, combining animation, live-action, and comic-style visuals for a truly unique experience.
Why a Hybrid Adaptation?
Visual Experimentation: Mixing hand-drawn panels with motion creates a living comic book.
Music as a Character: The soundtrack drives the narrative, with original tracks fueling each scene.
Raw & Gritty Aesthetic: Think Drive meets School of Rock—vibrant, chaotic, and unapologetically bold.
What’s Next?
I’m currently storyboarding key scenes and collaborating with musicians for the soundtrack. If you love music, comics, and boundary-pushing filmmaking, stay tuned—this is going to be wild.
Would you watch "I'm a Rockstar"? Let me know your thoughts!
